Pre-Cast Story:
My journey into Project Management is rather unsual as my first degree was in the fine arts and my second degree was for a PGCE to become a qualified secondary school art teacher. However, within a year I discovered that teaching was not the profession I wanted to progress with. I then had a varied career as I tried to find my long term direction. I worked initially as a Customer Service Coordinator for a Term Maintenance Contractor to review the performance against the Service Level Agreement with a Housing Association and advised on how services were being delivered against KPI’s. Thereafter I worked in the Housing Association sector, firstly in asset management looking after cyclical works and the Decent Homes programmes and then as a development officer, working on major estate regenerations. I then entered the consultancy sector where I have worked as Employers Agent, Independent Certifier and finally as a Project Manager.
Why Did You Join Cast?:
I joined Cast because I was attracted by the forward thinking and innovative approach to service delivery. Cast is in the forefront of leading the conversation on to move forward the construction industry using existing and emerging technologies. Playing a key role in developing tools and resource such as the Pre-Manufactured Value (PMV) calculator that will bring about change in how we measure outcomes and success within the industry.
Current Role:
I am current working a project manager on a Public Realm scheme which seeks to activate and bring new life to the centre of the former Olympic Village in London. I am also working on one of the biggest council led masterplan led regeneration schemes in London which will deliver approximately 10,000 homes, create new jobs and new neighbourhoods when completed. The element I am working on will be a rental led scheme, with 70% Build to Rent homes and 30% Affordable Housing Homes. My role is to project manage the delivery of the Build to Rent homes whilst collaborating with other team members for the holistic delivery of the wider masterplan. At Cast I have learned about MMC and PMV and I been able to implement that learning into my projects by including the requirement in the Client Brief, presenting to the client and design team on how incorporating MMC into the design will benefit the project by helping to achieve better outcomes.
